Getting to work and around the region
Many residents commute to the CBD, the airport or the Randwick hospitals and university precinct. The train from Bondi Junction and the light rail from Kingsford and Randwick carry much of that load, but buses and cars still crowd the few main roads, particularly Oxford Street, Anzac Parade and Southern Cross Drive at peak times.
Trucks and heavy vehicles. Container trucks serving Port Botany use Foreshore Road, General Holmes Drive and Botany Road, close to homes in Botany, Banksmeadow and Matraville.
Walking. Beachfront areas at Bondi, Coogee and Maroubra, and the Bondi Junction and Randwick centres, draw heavy foot traffic, especially on summer weekends.
