What to do after a car accident in Clovelly West
- Make the scene safe if you can. Switch on your warning lights, move out of traffic if it's safe to do so, and call 000 if anyone is hurt or trapped.

Time limits to know
The clock starts on the day of the crash. Lodge within 28 days if you can, so weekly payments can be back-paid. A claim made up to 3 months later is still possible, though payments may only begin on the date you claim. Damages claims generally have a 3-year limit; lodge by the 2-year mark if you want weekly payments to be able to run past it. Treatment and the medical side of your claim
Treatment and your claim are closely linked. Your GP completes the Certificate of Fitness, which the insurer relies on, and your treating team's notes become the medical evidence. That is a different scheme from CTP, and CTP statutory benefits are generally not payable where workers compensation is available. Usually, yes. The NSW CTP scheme generally applies to a crash that happens on a NSW road, whether the injured person lives in Maroubra, Melbourne or London. Keep the other driver's details and any police event number, see a doctor while you are still here, and lodge the claim as early as you can, ideally within 28 days. After you leave, the claim can usually continue by email, phone and online.
