The pre-motorway route through Cowan and Brooklyn to the Hawkesbury River; winding and popular with weekend riders.
Getting to work and around the region
Most commuters head south to Chatswood, North Sydney and the city by train, or by car down the Pacific Highway and via the M2 and Lane Cove Tunnel. Hornsby's rail interchange connects the North Shore and Northern lines with Central Coast trains, and commuter car parks at the main stations fill early on weekdays.
Motorcycling. The old Pacific Highway route north of Berowra and Bobbin Head Road draw motorcyclists on weekends, with tight bends through bushland.
Trucks and heavy vehicles. Freight between Sydney and the north uses NorthConnex and the M1, and trucks making local deliveries still use Pennant Hills Road and the Pacific Highway.
