Most people drive to work, and many jobs in mining, agriculture, transport and construction involve long daily drives on highways and gravel roads. Some Lithgow and Bathurst residents commute toward Sydney or between the two cities, and mine shift changes around Orange, Parkes, Mudgee and Cobar bring bursts of traffic onto local roads.
