After a crash in Condell Park: the local picture
Condell Park sits in Canterbury-Bankstown beside Yagoona, Revesby North and Bankstown, a settled suburb threaded by busy local arterials and light-industrial pockets. For Condell Park residents, a CTP claim generally starts with statutory benefits for weekly payments and treatment costs; some people may later be able to claim common law damages as well.
Condell Park is in the City of Canterbury-Bankstown area. If council cameras might have captured your crash, ask the City of Canterbury-Bankstown early, because footage is often kept only for a short time.
Many families here speak Arabic at home. An interpreter can be organised through CTP Assist on 1300 656 919, so language doesn't have to hold up a claim.
Canterbury-Bankstown: the wider area
It is one of Sydney's most multilingual areas: Arabic, Vietnamese, Greek, Mandarin and Cantonese are all widely spoken, and busy shopping strips line the streets around Lakemba, Campsie, Punchbowl and Bankstown stations. Haldon Street in Lakemba draws large evening crowds during Ramadan. Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital and Canterbury Hospital at Campsie are the main public hospitals.

Your first steps after a crash
- Check on everyone involved, yourself included. If anyone is injured, call 000 straight away and follow the operator's instructions until help arrives.
- If police attend, note the officer's name and station. If they don't, report the crash yourself promptly and keep the event number safe.
- Ask your doctor for a Certificate of Fitness. It records your injuries and what work you can manage, and the insurer relies on it.
- Get names and numbers from witnesses before they leave. Photos of the vehicles, number plates and road layout are worth taking if you can do it safely.
- Work out which CTP insurer to claim with. It's usually the insurer of the vehicle at fault, and CTP Assist on 1300 656 919 can help you identify it.
- Keep copies of every form you send and every letter you receive. Note the dates, because review deadlines, often 28 days, run from when you get a decision.
- Not sure whether you need a lawyer? A free claim check helps you decide. Many claims don't need one, and we'll say so if yours doesn't.
Key CTP deadlines
Claim statutory benefits as early as possible: within 28 days for back-paid weekly payments, and generally within 3 months of the accident. Beyond 3 months, late claims are accepted only in limited circumstances. A damages claim is generally due within 3 years, and one lodged within 2 years can keep weekly payments going past the 2-year mark while it's pending. This summary is general information, not legal advice. More on CTP claim time limits.
Treatment and the medical side of your claim
Treatment and your claim are closely linked. Your GP completes the Certificate of Fitness, which the insurer relies on, and your treating team's notes become the medical evidence. If you'd like help finding a doctor who knows CTP paperwork, or physiotherapy, psychology or exercise physiology, ask us. The insurer decides what it funds, and decisions can be reviewed.

Frequently asked questions
Get medical care and tell your doctor the crash caused your injuries. Tell police and keep the event number handy. Swap details with the other driver, photograph everything and note any witnesses. Start a folder for receipts and certificates. Then lodge your CTP claim, aiming for 28 days. If anything feels uncertain, a free claim check can help you prioritise.
We're sorry for your loss. CTP insurance generally covers reasonable funeral expenses regardless of fault, including transporting the person to near their usual home. The deceased person's legal personal representative, usually a close family member, can apply. Dependants may also be able to claim. CTP Assist on 1300 656 919 can connect you with a Principal Liaison Coordinator for support.
Not at first, in most cases. If the crash is also a work injury, you generally need to claim workers compensation through your employer's insurer first. That is a different scheme from CTP, and CTP statutory benefits are generally not payable where workers compensation is available. You may still be able to claim damages from the at-fault driver's CTP insurer, so get advice. Commuting crashes depend on the facts. Tell us about the trip and we can point you to the right help.
The sooner the better. The insurer generally needs your claim within 28 days for weekly payments to be back-paid to the day after the accident. Claims made later, up to 3 months after the accident, are still possible, but payments may then start from the claim date. Common law damages claims generally have to be made within 3 years. Your own dates may differ, so check them early.
Generally, the NSW CTP scheme applies where the crash happened in NSW. If it happened in another state or territory, that place's own scheme usually applies instead, though the details can be complicated, so say where it happened. The date matters too. Accidents from 1 December 2017 fall under the Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017, and earlier ones under the 1999 Act.
Usually not. Most injured people can claim statutory benefits whoever was at fault. The main exception is being wholly or mostly at fault, which means contributory negligence above 61%. Then weekly payments and treatment are generally limited to the first 52 weeks, and damages aren't available. Children who were 16 or under at the time can receive treatment and care for as long as they need it, regardless of fault.
Not from us. The claim check is free whatever you decide. If you choose to work with an independent CTP lawyer, legal costs in CTP claims are regulated, and for some disputes they can't be recovered at all. Many motor accident lawyers offer no win, no fee arrangements. Ask for a written costs disclosure before you agree to anything.
No. Our claim check is done by phone and online, so you can start it from home in Bankstown, Campsie or Revesby. If your case needs a lawyer, many motor accident lawyers work by phone and video, and you can ask about meeting in person when you are referred if that suits you better. Your own GP can generally provide the Certificate of Fitness the claim needs.
